Most children's first learning experiences begin in a very familiar, and in most cases, trustworthy haven--the home.  A very logical strategy would be to extend that same concept into my classroom.  My students and their parents are my "extended family".  I treat the students as if they are my children, and they treat each other like brothers and sisters.  I believe that students learn and thrive well in classrooms where everyone feels safe, respected, and part of a strong support system.
